Wayne County Community College District is a public multi-campus community college serving Detroit and Wayne County. Its Welding Technology pathway is offered at Eastern Campus in Detroit and includes a 64-credit Associate of Applied Science plus progressive General, Advanced and Specialized welding certificates. Program-specific coursework covers arc and oxyacetylene welding, TIG, MIG and Flux-Core processes, plasma cutting, spot and plastic welding, fabrication, pipe welding and certification practice. Students develop hands-on welding skills through lab-based courses that progress from general processes to advanced fabrication, pipe work and welding certification.
