Baton Rouge Community College is a public two-year college with credit and workforce welding options. Its published credit pathway includes a Welding Technical Diploma and shorter embedded credentials with classroom and shop instruction in safety, cutting, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core, TIG, structural and pipe welding. This 45-credit technical diploma uses a three-semester sequence covering welding safety, electrical fundamentals, oxy-fuel systems and cutting, Stick, Flux-Core, MIG and TIG welding. Published coursework progresses from fillet and groove welds into structural and pipe positions, including 2G, 5G and 6G pipe work, and combines classroom instruction with welding-shop practice.
