College of Western Idaho offers a stackable Welding and Metals Fabrication pathway comprising a 26-credit Basic Technical Certificate, a 50-credit Intermediate Technical Certificate, and a 65-credit Associate of Applied Science. Students complete hands-on training in Stick, MIG, TIG and Flux-Core welding along with safety, welding theory, blueprint reading, layout, cutting and fabrication. Courses are organized in sequential eight-week sessions, and the published outcomes progress from one AWS coded-standard certification in the basic certificate to at least two advanced all-position AWS certifications in the intermediate certificate and associate degree.
