Minnesota North College offers a 12-credit welding certificate, a 33-credit entry-level diploma and a 65-credit advanced diploma. The 33-credit, two-semester entry diploma combines theory and hands-on lab practice. Required courses cover stick welding on multiple electrodes and alloyed metals, thermal cutting, flame joining, cutting and gouging, MIG, TIG and flux-core welding, plus metal preparation, blueprint reading, rigging, mathematics and workplace communication. Graduates may continue into the advanced diploma.
