About Minnesota North College (school-wide)

Minnesota North College offers a 12-credit welding certificate, a 33-credit entry-level diploma and a 65-credit advanced diploma. The curriculum combines welding theory with extensive lab practice in stick, MIG, TIG and flux-core processes, plus thermal cutting, flame joining, gouging, pipe and tube welding, stainless-steel applications and CNC cutting at the advanced level. The program is an AWS Accredited Test Facility and gives graduates an opportunity to test as AWS Certified Welders.

The 33-credit, two-semester entry diploma combines theory and hands-on lab practice. Required courses cover stick welding on multiple electrodes and alloyed metals, thermal cutting, flame joining, cutting and gouging, MIG, TIG and flux-core welding, plus metal preparation, blueprint reading, rigging, mathematics and workplace communication. Graduates may continue into the advanced diploma.
