About Minnesota North College (school-wide)

Minnesota North College offers a 12-credit welding certificate, a 33-credit entry-level diploma and a 65-credit advanced diploma. The curriculum combines welding theory with extensive lab practice in stick, MIG, TIG and flux-core processes, plus thermal cutting, flame joining, gouging, pipe and tube welding, stainless-steel applications and CNC cutting at the advanced level. The program is an AWS Accredited Test Facility and gives graduates an opportunity to test as AWS Certified Welders.

Required courses cover stick welding on multiple electrodes and alloyed metals, thermal cutting, flame joining, cutting and gouging, MIG, TIG and flux-core welding, plus metal preparation, blueprint reading, rigging, mathematics and workplace communication. Graduates may continue into the advanced diploma.
