A 37-credit certificate that develops hands-on welding proficiency on plate, pipe and structural shapes in multiple positions. The curriculum covers oxyacetylene welding and thermal cutting, Stick, TIG and MIG welding, plasma-arc and air-carbon-arc cutting, pipe fit-up, fabrication and simulated qualification procedures. Classroom and technical content includes blueprints, welding symbols, inspection and testing, metallurgy, CAD and machine-tool operations. Students must earn at least C in every required course, and the final qualification course prepares them for an AWS welding qualification certificate.
