New River Community and Technical College offers welding training at the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent and its Greenbrier Valley welding shop in Lewisburg. Current credentials include a 60-61 credit AAS, a two-semester certificate of applied science, an 18-credit general welding skill set and a 15-credit physical plant welding technician skill set. Instruction is strongly hands-on and covers major arc-welding processes, cutting, fabrication, pipe work and code-based practice; the college also operates an AWS testing site in Lewisburg.
