North Dakota State College of Science offers Welding Technology associate and certificate pathways at both Wahpeton and Fargo, an Industry Welding Technology associate degree in Fargo, and four focused Fargo certificates in MIG, TIG, Stick and flux-core welding. Current curricula combine shop practice with welding theory and document pipe and plate welding, fabrication, oxyfuel, plasma and air-carbon-arc cutting, pulsed MIG, CNC plasma cutting and robotic welding. A 73-credit advanced Welding Technology degree building from the first-year welding certificate. Students train in MIG, pulsed MIG, TIG, Stick and flux-core welding; pipe and heavy-plate work; fabrication; oxyfuel, plasma and air-carbon-arc cutting; CNC plasma operations; and robotic welding. The second year is limited enrollment and adds advanced welding, qualification work, automation and general education.
