Salt Lake Community College offers two current welding pathways at the Westpointe Center. The 24-credit Welding Technology Technical Certificate is a competency-based program with hands-on instruction in oxyacetylene, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core, and TIG welding, as well as oxyfuel, plasma, and carbon-arc cutting and arc-air gouging. The college also offers a Welding Fabrication and Inspection Associate of Applied Science focused on industry practices, metal alloys and metallurgy, layout, fabrication, fitting, forming, cutting, inspection, and certification testing. The programs are designed for entry-level and advancing work in welding, fabrication, and inspection-related occupations.
