Southwestern Oregon Community College — Coos Campus

The 93-credit AAS prepares students for entry-level welding and advancement in manufacturing and fabrication. Students develop welding and fitting skills through sequential laboratory courses in Stick, MIG, Flux-Core, TIG, pipe welding, cutting, brazing, and fabrication. The program requires personal protective equipment and a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. It is an AWS entry-level certified program, and students who successfully complete the AWS portion of each welding course may qualify for an AWS entry-level Certificate of Completion.

This 48-credit, first-year welding certificate prepares students for entry-level metalworking jobs and stacks into the Welding AAS. Its laboratory sequence covers cutting and brazing, Stick, MIG, Flux-Core, TIG, fabrication, and introductory pipe welding. Official program materials identify the welding curriculum as AWS entry-level certified and document AWS portions within welding courses.

This 18-credit career-pathway certificate introduces thermal cutting, brazing, Stick, MIG, and Flux-Core welding through foundational welding courses and laboratory practice. It is designed as a short, stackable entry point into Southwestern's larger welding credentials.

This 24-credit career-pathway certificate builds entry-level shop skills in thermal cutting, brazing, Stick, MIG, and Flux-Core welding. It adds a first-year welding certification-preparation course to the Welding Assistant curriculum and can stack into the college's longer welding awards.

This 12-credit career-pathway certificate concentrates on pipe welding, pipe layout and fitting, and advanced TIG. The published pathway also requires prerequisite coursework in cutting, Stick welding, and technical mathematics, so students should plan beyond the 12 credits shown in the certificate block.
