Craven Community College offers a Welding Technology associate degree, diploma, and four progressive certificates covering entry-level welding, intermediate skills, fabrication, and advanced pipe welding. Credit coursework combines safety, cutting, blueprint and symbol interpretation, metallurgy, inspection, certification practices, and hands-on MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core, pipe, and fabrication work. Topics include safety, blueprint reading, construction math, material handling, oxyfuel, plasma and air-carbon-arc cutting, base-metal preparation, weld quality, Stick beads, fillet and groove welds, joint fit-up, symbols, metal properties, heat treatment, and MIG, TIG, and Flux-Core setup and practice. Successful students earn both NCCER Welding Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.
