Choosing MIG welding training

MIG is the common name used here for gas metal arc welding, or GMAW. Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) is a separate process even when a school teaches it alongside MIG.

A combined GMAW/FCAW class is labeled as combined training. Fabrication courses and full welding programs that use MIG are identified separately from focused MIG courses.

Ask about the materials, plate or pipe applications, transfer modes, supervised practice and entry requirements. An industrial course may expect prior experience even when another course at the same school accepts beginners.
